- ADULT 10K RACE
The race starts at 09.30am, and includes an optional live musical ‘warm up’ at 09.10am.
The 10k follows a route that exits out of Priory Park, up Park Avenue North, around the back of the waterworks, up and around Alexandra Palace train station and into the lower areas of Alexandra Palace Park. It exits via the Farmers Market, into Priory Road, up Redston Road and then there is a second lap, which finishes back in Priory Park. To view route map click here
Once again we have again obtained a Traffic Management Order (TMO) to close off Priory Road from 09.30 – 11.00am – from the Middle Lane roundabout to the traffic lights at the bottom of Muswell Hill Road; thus ensuring safety and facility for the runners exiting and entering Priory Park and running down Priory Road. We also have a TMO to close off Park Avenue North for 20 mins from 09.30 – 09.50am. This is to ease the flow of runners and prevent too much congestion at the start of the course, and as the runners leave Park Avenue North via the alleyway and into Northview Road. The 10k route is marshalled by a large voluntary team of marshals from London Heathside Athletics club who help direct runners around the 10k course. Also in attendance are CSP (Combined Service Provider) marshals who specialise in traffic management and road closures. Both these groups of marshals are there for your safety, so please pay attention to their directions.

Important information about the wearing of headphones
The UKA Rule is as follows:
“The wearing of headphones, or similar devices, (other than those medically prescribed), is not permitted in races on any single carriageway that is not wholly closed to traffic. This restriction does not apply to races held on dual carriageways provided that there are clear, structured separations between the separate carriageways. Promoters of races held entirely on roads closed to traffic may apply this condition where appropriate to local circumstances.”
Bone conducting headphones are allowed under UKA Rules of Competition – bone headphones work by conducting sound through bones and do not sit in the ears and therefore are acceptable as it is deemed that hearing is not affected as the ears are not blocked. Therefore the wearing of bone conducting headphones will be allowed but all the wearing of any other type of headphone will be prohibited. The wearing of bone conducting headphones is at the runners’ discretion, and should not impede the runners’ focus of attention on marshal instructions around the course.

Medical and Training Information
- Please fully complete your medical details on the back of race bib
- Please ensure you train sufficiently for your event
- Please do not run on the day if you are feeling unwell or still recovering from an illness – if you are unsure please consult your doctor before the event
- For full training information please go to our training page
- For fitness and training information, as recommended by UKA licensing please follow this link: www.runnersmedicalresource.com
As in the previous 2 years, runners when buying their race entries have to select an estimated race completion time, so it is IMPORTANT that they should ensure they are in the correct area for their selected running time at the start of the race.
There will be an Information Tent situated close to the Fun Run Stage opening at 8.30am on the Event Day.
There will be a supervised baggage area for you to leave bags, although bags are ultimately left at their owners’ risk. This tent opens at 8.30am on the Event Day. Loose items will not be taken so please have a suitable bag with you.
It is best to come to the park dressed for your run, but wearing warm outer clothing that can be removed before your event. After the run, changing and shower facilities will be available at the YMCA North London Fitness Centre, 1 km away, on the corner of Elmfield Avenue and Tottenham Lane.
There will be plenty of water available in the start/finish area, and your well-deserved doughnut (generously donated by Dunn’s the Bakers) after you finish your run. There are two water stations out on the Adult 10k Fun Run route just before the 2k and 4k marks, and, as this is a two-lap race, you will pass by these twice! If you feel this won’t be enough for your needs we suggest you think about carrying further personal supplies in a running water bottle.
All runners should visit the treatment tents, where a variety of local therapists will be offering free treatments or consultations. All are offering their services free of charge (although donations are gratefully received).
Adult Prize Giving
Prize giving will take place on the Fun Run stage at an earlier time of 10.45am
- CHILDREN'S 1 MILE RACES
The children’s 1 mile Fun Run is a one-mile long, figure of eight circuit completely contained within Priory Park. The races are marshalled every year by kind volunteers. To view the 1 mile route map click here.
- NEW FOR CHILDREN'S RACES 2018
Based on feedback from last year surveys, the children’s race categories have been redesigned so as to allow children to run with their school year groups, rather than being split due to age difference. IMPORTANT – please check the new race timetable below for the race start times.
Children aged 3 should run accompanied by an adult parent/carer. Do not wear your timing tags to accompany others as this will confuse results.
Children ages 4 – 6 may run with an adult parent/carer. Do not wear your timing tags to accompany others as this will confuse results.
Children aged 7 years and over should run unaccompanied, unless there are special requirements to be taken into consideration. Any enquiries with regard to special requirements please contact the administration on: email@example.com
Each race will be announced over the race stage sound system, and as the events are close together please pay attention to the stage announcements.
Please ensure that your child(ren) are there in good time before their event, and that he/she runs in the correct race. Running in the wrong race can mean disqualification.
Smaller children should start at the back for safety reasons.

- CHIP TIMING TAGS & BIBS - ADULT & CHILD RACES
- You must wear both your numbered race bib and the chip timing tag to get an official finish time. The timing mats at the Start/Finish will record all the tags passing over them so make sure they are attached securely. Pin the bib to your running vest/Tshirt and attach the tag to your running shoe.
- NB the tag must lie horizontally to be read electronically as it goes across the Start/Finish so it is important you do not place it in your sock.
- Do not wear your tag if you are accompanying a child on their race.
- If you have multiple entries for your household, please make sure the tags are kept with the relevant bib numbers to avoid confusion. There is a £5 charge for bibs or tags that have been lost or mixed up.
- If you cannot run do not give your tag to someone else. All entries are non-transferable and non-refundable.
- At the end of your race a team of people will be clearly located at the end of the finish funnel to help you remove your tag. You then take your bib and timing tag to collect your free medal and doughnut at the Doughnuts and Medals Tent.
- RUNNERS WITH DISABILITIES
We can accommodate a wide range of disabilities within the adult 10k and children’s races. If there are any additional requirements or queries with regard to this please contact the administration on email@example.com
