Receptionist

Location:   North London (Crouch End, N8)

Contract:   Various – Between 9.25 & 11.25 hours per week average

Salary:       £8.85 per hour

North London (Hornsey) – a charity limited by guarantee, providing a range of community facilities including a fitness centre, childcare services, children’s sports and recreational activities and community events.

We are looking for experienced Receptionists who thrive on offering a high quality and efficient front of house service for customers and service users of our fantastic club.  You will be the friendly face our customers will see, greeting them, handling booking enquiries and managing the transactions efficiently and accurately.

If you have a good standard of GSCE level or equivalent education, with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills, we would like to hear from you.

Gymnastics Coach (Level 2)

Contact:      Harringay Club Manager

Location:    North London (Crouch End, N8)

Contract:    11 weeks per year, 30.5 hours per week school holidays plus the opportunity for additional coaching within the term time programme

Salary:        £9.89 per hour (£13.83 for additional hours)

YMCA North London is a Christian organisation and part of a federated network of over 100 YMCAs in England.  YMCA North London consists of two organisations:

The YMCA North London Harringay Club provides a range of sporting activities for both adult and children to improve their health and wellbeing.  Our timetable has a large choice of gymnastics, dance, ballet, drama, yoga and martial art classes. Each area is successful, showing consistently high achievement in external examinations and competitions.   We have over 1,500 people attending classes every week, who enjoy the variety and quality we offer. Our customers are mainly from the North London area, however some travel from further afield to access our services.

We are looking for Level 2 qualified Gymnastic Coaches to deliver the coaching of our school holiday Gymnastics Camp programmes.  A key part of this role is offering quality coaching and communicating with staff and customers and liaising with the Assistant Manager and Centre Manager to ensure all classes and activities are running smoothly.  All gymnastic coaching team members are expected to comply with YMCA and British Gymnastics policies, including child protection, fair play and equal opportunities.

If you are qualified to at least Level 2 British Gymnastics Coach, GFA or Women’s Artistic, and have some experience of delivering similar classes or camps, we would like to hear from you.

Gardening Volunteer

Location: North London (Crouch End, N8)

Are you a keen gardener who would like to share your time, knowledge and enthusiasm? We are setting up a garden here at the YMCA where we will be growing edible plants and some flowers. We want to encourage residents to spend time outside nurturing plants and learning about their natural surroundings. You would be able to come to the hostel once a week for at least two hours to lead a gardening session with up to ten residents. A member of staff would support you with the sessions. The YMCA would also provide you with a DBS check and travel expenses if required. Contact: lucy.brotherston@ymcanorthlondon.org.uk 

Bike Maintenance Volunteer

Location: North London (Crouch End, N8)

Do you know how to repair bicycles? Have you got an old bicycle you wish to donate to the YMCA for repair?  Would you like to share your time, knowledge and enthusiasm? We would like to set up a bike workshop to encourage residents to develop practical skills and enjoy the benefits of cycling. We would expect you to be able to come to the hostel once a week for at least two hours to lead a bike maintenance session with a maximum of six residents. A member of staff would support you with the sessions. The YMCA would supply tools and bike parts,a DBS check and travel expenses, if required. Contact: lucy.brotherston@ymcanorthlondon.org.uk 

Yoga/Mindfulness Volunteer

Location: North London (Crouch End, N8)

Do you have a good knowledge and understanding of wellbeing issues? Are you a yoga teacher or experienced practitioner? Do you understand mindfulness or meditation? We are looking for a volunteer who could work with residents to help them to combat anxiety, improve their sense of wellbeing, and to work on relaxation strategies to improve their mental health. We will be running wellbeing sessions in the hostel supported by hostel staff with your help. English Volunteer

Location: North London (Crouch End, N8)

Are you an experienced ESOL teacher, do you have experience of working with or teaching people with English as an additional language? We are looking for a volunteer who can work with residents in small groups to improve their spoken and written English. Improved language skills will open doors to residents and allow them to access job opportunities that might otherwise be closed to them. Money Management Volunteer

Are you a financial whizz? Are you brimming over with money saving tips and budgeting ideas? We need your skills here at the YMCA. We are looking for someone to run a weekly money management workshop here in our computer room for up to eight of our residents at a time. Football Coaches Volunteer

Qualified level 1 and 2 football coaches wanted with at least 1 year experience of coaching children to help run football sessions on Saturday mornings from 9.30am-12.30pm. Contact Paul on 020 8340 6088.
