Talent Worker

Location: North London (Crouch End, N8)

Contract: Full-time (35 hours), Monday to Friday. Some Evenings and Weekends

Salary: £21,226.00 pa

We want to recruit a Talent Worker ensure the delivery of training and engagement in YMCANL through active encouragement of participation for funded residents in the activities and programmes, and to organise, supervise and deliver timetabled and regular sessions and activities to open the talent of young people.  A key focus of the role is to promote and support Foyer residents to take up opportunities in work, training and volunteering.

The Talent Worker plays a key role in the Housing department reporting to the Talent Manager.

The post holder will be responsible ensuring that allocated Foyer residents are inducted to the Life Academy/ Foyer programmes, and a timetable is developed for each person; Reviewing the progress of individuals against programme criteria; Undertaking strategic interventions and offering support to maintain resident participation in programmes; Developing and  preparing Life Academy sessions using planning tools and setting clear learning goals/objectives; Delivering Life Academy sessions using approaches that successfully engage Foyer residents.

Duties will include liaising with the Support Department around resident profile need, risk and engagement; Liaising and developing working relationships with external agencies in matters to do with residents progressions in work, training and volunteering; Advertising and promoting external opportunities in work training and volunteering maximising participation appropriately; Supporting the use of Talent points with each service user to appropriate opportunities ; attending residents meetings and liaising with external agencies.

Experience in a talent or development role working in a similar housing setting is highly desirable.

Finance Assistant

Location: North London (Crouch End, N8)

Contract: Full-time (35 hours), Monday to Friday

Salary: £22,000 pa – £24,000 pa

We want to recruit an AAT qualified Finance Assistant who will be responsible for the sales ledger, FCC income, Non-sales ledger receipts, Posting Transactions, Bank Reconciliations/Adjustments, Phone mast income, Gift aid etc.

In addition, this post holder will cover the Account Payable and Payroll Manager, Finance Administrator, Housing and Finance Administrator in their absence and to perform any other duties as required by the Director of Finance.

The Organisation’s work is spread across the London borough of Haringey.  It is one of the largest direct access hostels in the borough.  It is regulated by the TSA and is a Registered Social landlord. It currently accommodates more than 150 residents including providing ‘move on’ accommodation. The Organisation also provides various youth activities to the local community along with gym membership and exercise classes for the public.

The Organisation is in a dynamic and growing environment.  Today, there are about 120 (FTE) staff and numbers are likely to increase for the foreseeable future.

A large part of the work of the Finance Assistant is: Accounts Receivable will be required to dealing promptly with any queries or requests for information.  This will require the post holder to adhere strictly to all deadlines, to ensure care and accuracy in all aspects of their work and to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential information.

Duties will include:

  • Recording and processing of Income and Receivables including Rent Income
  • Petty Cash for Charity
  • Reconciliation
  • Reporting and line by line management accounts
  • Communication and Cross Departmental working

Level 2 Gymnastics Coach and Supervisor

Location: North London (Crouch End, N8)

Contract: Permanent, Part-Time (19.75 hours per week term time, 33 hours per week during school holidays)

Salary: £13,902.83 pa

We want to recruit a Level 2 Gymnastics Coach and Supervisor to provide an effective and efficient recreational gymnastics programme.

The Harringay club provides a range of sporting activities for both adult and children to improve their health and wellbeing, including gymnastics, dance, ballet, drama, yoga and martial art classes.

The purpose of the role will be to coordinate the recreational gymnastics program. This involves coaching within the program, being responsible for registers, all aspects of proficiency awards, organising testing days for all recreational classes and writing report card and certificates.

A key part of this role will be communicating with staff and customers, liaising with the assistant manager to ensure all classes are fully staffed, including assisting with staffing rotas.

Duties include line management responsibilities for up to eight level one coaches as well as volunteers to help us expand the program and the staffing team.  This will include preparing and delivering appraisals as well as mentoring and helping to train volunteers to become qualified level one coaches.  Therefore, experience in a similar role, or working in a similar setting is highly desirable.

Successful candidates must be qualified to at least level 2 British Gymnastics coach (General Gymnastics), have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service and be an effective team player, combined with an ability to work under own initiative.

Customer Service Assistant/ Receptionist

Location: North London (Crouch End, N8)

Contract: Full-time (35 hours), Monday to Friday working rotating shifts 07:30- 15:30 or Midday till 20:00 p.m

Salary: £17,513.00 pa

We want to recruit a Customer Service Assistant to provide an effective and efficient front of house service for the hostel and hostel facilities.

This post will be 35 hours per week with shift work Mon-Fri (weekend cover maybe required from time to time) and the Shifts will be, 7:30-3:30 and 12:00-8pm

The Customer Service Assistant will also be expected to assist in the smooth efficient running of the hostel, deliver an effective quality administration service to residents and staff, whilst promoting a tolerant and caring environment within the hostel.

The post holder will be responsible for maintain the highest standards of customer service at all times by welcoming customers, residents and visitors to the hostel and providing accurate information concerning hostel programmes and activities to interested parties.

Duties will include presenting a caring and professional image as the first point of contact for YMCANL over the phone or at the reception area; Ensuring that adequate stocks of information packs, programmes and relevant leaflets are available at reception for interested parties; Ensuring the safety and security of visitors, residents and staff at all times and taking a responsible attitude towards maintaining the premises and facilities of the YMCA; Handling telephone enquiries, recording messages from incoming calls and transferring calls; Assisting with evacuations by keeping the visitor and resident signing in book up to date and to hand at all times; Collecting and advising residents’ and former residents on the status of their rent account, including any Housing Benefit contributions; Recording of all queries, complaints, lost property and repairs and ensuring the information is delegated to, and resolved by, the relevant department; Booking residents in/out of the database system; Sorting and logging post on a daily basis and ensure it is signed for by the relevant person.

Candidates should possess a high degree of calm and professionalism and be efficient and effective in carrying out their duties.

Experience in a Customer Service or Reception role working in a similar housing setting is highly desirable.

HR Assistant Volunteer

The purpose of this role is to provide an individual with valuable experience in HR, Administration and the Charity sector. The volunteer will provide support to the Executive Support Manager which is a key role in North London YMCA.

The Executive Support Manager is responsible for supporting the Chief Executive and the Boards of the Housing Society and the Charity in planning, implementing, directing and maintaining the activities of the organisation by providing a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative support, communicating information on behalf of the Chief Executive, Board to service users, employees and other interested parties. Together with the Chief Executive, the Executive Support Manager is an ambassador for the organisation, and will often be the first point of contact for visitors.

In addition, this role provides ‘on the ground’ HR administrative support to managers and employees including answering questions where possible and liaising with the HR Manager/Director to provide solutions to outstanding issues.

Admin Assistant/PA Internship
