Income Officer (Part-Time)

Location: YMCA North London (Crouch End, N8)

Contract: Permanent, part-time (28 hours) Monday to Sunday working rotating shifts between 08:00- 20:00

Salary: £16,980.80

In November 2015 we were delighted to have been awarded the prestigious honour of YMCA of the Year at the YMCA Youth Matters awards.  In addition, one of our Programme team members was awarded Young Leader of the year.

We want to recruit an Income Officer to support a caseload of young people to manage their money in a way that prevents them from getting in to arrears. Working within the benefits system to ensure residents maximise their income and meet what is required of them to maintain their benefits. In the eventuality of clients falling in to arrears; staff are to engage in effective income recovery techniques to prevent these from escalating and reduce.

This post will be 28 hours per week working rotating shifts Mon-Sun (weekend cover will be required) and the Shifts will be between 08:00-22.00.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring frontline staff deliver an excellent standard of support to 157 residents in the areas of maximising income, arrears management and budgeting. This means upholding internal procedures and honouring external funding requirements.

Duties will include monitoring all resident’s accounts on a weekly basis and carry out appropriate tasks to prevent and reduce the likelihood of further debt; Working with Housing Benefit to ensure clients are providing appropriate information and their claim is consistently in payment; Following the rent management procedure and ensure clients are issued with appropriate warnings before they reach the eviction stage; Challenging any Housing Benefit underpayments or overpayments to ensure the cost to the resident and the organisation is limited; Following up Former Resident Arrears to recover any existing arrears and put forward for write off when this is not possible; Completing all monthly arrears tasks within the deadlines provided by line manager; Completing budgeting workshops on a weekly basis for residents who are at risk of eviction

Candidates should possess a high degree of professionalism and be efficient and effective in carrying out their duties.

Experience in a similar housing setting is highly desirable.

Customer Service Assistant/ Receptionist

Location: YMCA North London (Crouch End, N8)

Contract: Permanent, full-time (35 hours) Monday to Friday working rotating shifts 07:30- 15:30 or Midday till 20:00 p.m.

Salary: £19,000.00 pa

We want to recruit a Customer Service Assistant to provide an effective and efficient front of house service for the hostel and hostel facilities.

This post will be 35 hours per week with shift work Mon-Fri (weekend cover maybe required from time to time) and the Shifts will be, 7:30-3:30 and 12:00-8pm

The Customer Service Assistant will also be expected to assist in the smooth efficient running of the hostel, deliver an effective quality administration service to residents and staff, whilst promoting a tolerant and caring environment within the hostel.

The post holder will be responsible for maintain the highest standards of customer service at all times by welcoming customers, residents and visitors to the hostel and providing accurate information concerning hostel programmes and activities to interested parties.

Duties will include presenting a caring and professional image as the first point of contact for YMCANL over the phone or at the reception area; Ensuring that adequate stocks of information packs, programmes and relevant leaflets are available at reception for interested parties; Ensuring the safety and security of visitors, residents and staff at all times and taking a responsible attitude towards maintaining the premises and facilities of the YMCA; Handling telephone enquiries, recording messages from incoming calls and transferring calls; Assisting with evacuations by keeping the visitor and resident signing in book up to date and to hand at all times; Collecting and advising residents’ and former residents on the status of their rent account, including any Housing Benefit contributions; Recording of all queries, complaints, lost property and repairs and ensuring the information is delegated to, and resolved by, the relevant department; Booking residents in/out of the database system; Sorting and logging post on a daily basis and ensure it is signed for by the relevant person.

Candidates should possess a high degree of calm and professionalism and be efficient and effective in carrying out their duties.

Experience in a Customer Service or Reception role working in a similar housing setting is highly desirable.

Recreational Gymnastics Coordinator

Location: YMCA North London (Crouch End, N8)

Contract: Permanent, part-time

Salary: £14,530pa

The Harringay club provides a range of sporting activities for both adult and children to improve their health and wellbeing. Our timetable has a large choice of gymnastics, dance, ballet, drama, yoga and martial art classes.

The purpose of the role will be to coordinate the recreational gymnastics program. This involves coaching within the existing program, being responsible for registers, all aspects of proficiency awards, organising testing days for all recreational classes and writing reports card and certificates.

A key part of this role will be communicating with staff and customers, liaising with the assistant manager to ensure all classes are fully staffed, including assisting with staffing rotas.

This role has line management responsibilities to volunteers and level one coaches to help us expand the program and the staffing team. This will include preparing and delivering one to one meetings as well as mentoring and helping to train volunteers to become qualified level one coaches. Therefore, experience in a similar role, or working in a similar setting is highly desirable.

Successful candidates must be qualified to at least level 2 British Gymnastics coach General gymnastics (may consider level 1 if already booked onto level 2 course), have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service and be an effective team player, combined with an ability to work under own initiative.

Gym Instructor

Location: YMCA North London (Crouch End, N8)

A key part of this role will be demonstrating how to use the gym equipment safely and appropriately to new and existing members.  Also creating exercise programmes for clients, working with them to assess and correct their diet, weight and lifestyle

Successful candidates must be qualified to at least NVQ level 2 gym instructor have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service and be an effective team player, combined with an ability to work under own initiative.

Housing Officer

Location: YMCA North London (Crouch End, N8)

We want to recruit a Housing Officer to provide a first class housing management service for residents of our building at Tottenham Lane, and the various move on properties through the effective management and turnaround of voids; the appropriate selection and allocation of applicants for interview and the provision of information and support to residents to ensure licences are sustained.

The Housing Officer plays a key role in the Housing department reporting to the Housing Manager.

The post holder will be responsible for processing voids; Processing referrals efficiently ensuring minimum waiting periods for interview; Undertaking a Risk and Initial Needs Assessment for each applicant and interviewing new applicants for accommodation; Inducting new residents into the accommodation ensuring that each resident understands the rights and responsibilities outlined in the licence agreement and the sanctions if the licence agreement is breached; Ensuring residents are aware of facilities, information what to do to make a complaint or report problems.

Duties will include management of the move-on properties; undertaking regular tours of the site and room searches; carrying out evictions; Managing anti-social behaviour.

Experience in a housing role working in a similar setting is highly desirable.

Kitchen Manager (3 months Fixed term)

We want to recruit a temporary Kitchen Manager to provide a first class catering service to 154 young homeless people living at our facility in Tottenham Lane,

We want you to ensure we provide delicious, healthy food that will contribute to our young people living healthy lives and help them prepare for, volunteering, education, training, employment and independent living

You will lead our in-house catering team and report to the Operations Manager

We want you to provide the best possible food standards and service in our catering department on a cost effective basis, to ensure the health and safety of our residents and staff.

You will ensure two daily meal services for residents from Monday – Sunday. As our Kitchen Manager you will be expected to lead, motivate and supervise the kitchen team and have full responsibility for food storage, preparation, production, cooking and service in our on-site canteen/restaurant.

Your duties will include line management of our catering staff, including management of staffing rotas, performance and food hygiene; providing guidance to catering staff on service and portion control, ensuring that all food is safe and served at an appropriate temperature; To keep appropriate records and liaise with the Operations Manager and the HR Department, in respect of all staff matters such as time‐keeping and attendance; To undertake regular reviews of training and development needs and implement training and development programmes; To maximise team efficiency using a proactive performance review process ensuring staff are realising their full potential.

In addition to these management responsibilities, you will lead on customer service standards, food standards, stock control, menu planning and ordering, as well as food health and safety procedures.

Experience in a senior catering role working in a similar residential setting, hospital or school, is highly desirable as are computer skills, good customer service and the provision of high quality food.
