ETE Co-ordinator

We want to recruit an ETE Coordinator to provide first class design and delivery of high quality learning and development programmes in the YMCANL Training Room included, but not limited to, Basic Skills in literacy and numeracy, ESOL support and Life Skills in such areas as: work preparation, confidence & independence, problem solving, healthy living and citizenship including the delivery of any in-house accredited programmes with the aim of facilitating the transition in residents to independent living.

The post holder will be responsible for managing a team of volunteers; Programme development and evaluation; involving and engaging with residents on a regular basis.

Duties will include recruiting a team of volunteers to help deliver the programmes; Management reporting; attending management meetings and reporting on progress of residents;

Applicants should possess good communication skills; empathy and awareness of issues facing young people; significant experience of delivering training and development to young people.

Experience of working in a Housing setting is highly desirable.

Housing Support Officer

We want to recruit a new Housing Support Officer dedicated to supporting those residents.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that interviews and risk assessment with prospective clients are carried out within the prescribed time

limits and that the resident is fully and carefully inducted into the YMCA; Conduct needs and risk assessments of residents to develop outcome-focused support plans with residents; Support in settling the residents into accommodation; Support  in maintaining the licence or tenancy, developing domestic / life skills, developing social skills / behaviour management; Provide advice, advocacy and liaison support; Support  in managing finances and benefit claims, emotional support and general counselling, gaining access to other services, establishing social contacts and encourage participation in activities.

Applicants should have a good understanding of young people and their needs; good communication skills; able to work under pressure and with challenging issues; experiencing of working with vulnerable groups, particularly in the area of housing related support.

The role will involve shift work, late evening until 10pm and weekends on an 11-week rota basis.

Applicants should possess good communication skills and empathy and awareness of issues facing young people.

Experience of working in a Housing setting is highly desirable.

Customer Service Receptionist/Assistant

We want to recruit a Customer Service Receptionist/Assistant to provide an effective and efficient front of house service for the hostel and hostel facilities.

This post will be 35 hours per week with shift work Mon-Fri (weekend cover maybe required from time to time) and the Shifts will be, 08:00 a.m.- 16:00  p.m. and 14:00 p.m. – 22:00 p.m.

The Customer Service Assistant will also be expected to assist in the smooth efficient running of the hostel, deliver an effective quality administration service to residents and staff, whilst promoting a tolerant and caring environment within the hostel.

The post holder will be responsible for maintain the highest standards of customer service at all times by welcoming customers, residents and visitors to the hostel and providing accurate information concerning hostel programmes and activities to interested parties.

Duties will include presenting a caring and professional image as the first point of contact for YMCANL over the phone or at the reception area; Ensuring that adequate stocks of information packs, programmes and relevant leaflets are available at reception for interested parties; Ensuring the safety and security of visitors, residents and staff at all times and taking a responsible attitude towards maintaining the premises and facilities of the YMCA; Handling telephone enquiries, recording messages from incoming calls and transferring calls; Assisting with evacuations by keeping the visitor and resident signing in book up to date and to hand at all times; Collecting and advising residents’ and former residents on the status of their rent account, including any Housing Benefit contributions; Recording of all queries, complaints, lost property and repairs and ensuring the information is delegated to, and resolved by, the relevant department; Booking residents in/out of the database system; Sorting and logging post on a daily basis and ensure it is signed for by the relevant person.

Candidates should possess a high degree of calm and professionalism and be efficient and effective in carrying out their duties. Experience in a Customer Service or Reception role working in a similar housing setting is highly desirable

Team Leader

In addition, the post holder will be actively involved in the development of Health and Safety and security policies and procedures, ensuring that residents and staff are fully aware of the policies in place especially the procedures in relation to reporting abuse and neglect.

As this is a management role, the post holder will be also be responsible for recruiting, training and managing staff, conducting annual appraisals, setting targets and monitoring performance.

Applicants should have a good understanding of young people and their needs; good communication skills; able to work under pressure and with challenging issues; experiencing of working with vulnerable groups and have experience of managing a team.

The role will involve shift work, evenings until 8:00 pm and occasional weekends on a rota basis.

Applicants should possess good communication skills and empathy and awareness of issues facing young people. Experience of working in a Supported Housing setting is highly desirable.

Reception Team Leader

We want to recruit a Reception Team Leader to supervise and lead the other receptionists, setting the standard for welcoming visitors and members to the Centre.

The post holder will provide and efficient and effective reception service for all resident, members and clients. In addition to answer the phone and meeting and greeting guests, this will also be achieved by ensuring the reception area is keep clean and tidy and information displays are made attractive and well maintained.

In addition, the post holder work in close co-operation with the line manager, ensuring occupancy of the hostel is administered smoothly, guests are signed in and out, movement of residents in monitored as far as reasonably practical, residents and their guests comply with house rule and licence agreement and that any breaches are reported in line with policy. Taking and managing booking will involve handling cash transactions.

On occasion, residents may need to talk. Low-level support can be provided and it is therefore essential that the Reception Team Leader reads resident files and liaises with key workers to understand the resident’s needs. Support will be achieved by listening and then communicating effectively with key workers in relation to the issues or concerns raised by the resident.

The role will involve shift work, late evening until 10pm and weekends, working as the Weekend Duty Officer.

Applicants should possess good communication skills and empathy and awareness of issues facing young people.

Experience of working in a Supported Housing setting is highly desirable.

Experience in a senior role working in a similar setting is highly desirable. Candidates should be CIPD qualified and have significant experience of employee relations and employment law.
