Fitness Centre Reception

Contract:  Permanent, part-time (7.5 hours per week average over a six week rota)

Salary:     £8.50 per hour

YMCA North London is an independent charitable organisation affiliated to the national and international YMCA movement.

We want to recruit Fitness Centre Receptionists who will play critical roles in providing a first class experience to members, prospective members and visitors to our gym facility.

Together with other members of the Fitness Centre Team, the Receptionists are ambassadors for the organisation and will be the first point of contact for enquiries, complaints and questions.

The role requires the delivery of an exceptional customer service experience at all times, and will have a key role in ensuring the safety and security of visitors, members and staff at all times and taking a responsible attitude towards maintaining the premises and facilities of the Fitness Centre.

Experience in a similar role working in a similar setting is highly desirable.

 Catering Manager

To run the Catering department of YMCA North London on a commercial basis, through the best possible food standards and service and to ensure the health and safety of our service users and the reputation of the organisation. To oversee two daily meal services for Residents and staff from Monday – Sunday. Our Catering Manager will be expected to lead, motivate and supervise the Kitchen team and have full responsibility for food storing, preparation, production, cooking and service to the Restaurant.

Talent Worker

We want to recruit a Talent Worker ensure the delivery of training and engagement in YMCANL through active encouragement of participation for funded residents in the activities and programmes, and to organise, supervise and deliver timetabled and regular sessions and activities to open the talent of young people. A key focus of the role is to promote and support Foyer residents to take up opportunities in work, training and volunteering.

The Talent Worker plays a key role in the Housing department reporting to the Talent Manager.

The post holder will be responsible ensuring that allocated Foyer residents are inducted to the Life Academy/ Foyer programmes, and a timetable is developed for each person; Reviewing the progress of individuals against programme criteria; Undertaking strategic interventions and offering support to maintain resident participation in programmes); Developing and preparing Life Academy sessions using planning tools and setting clear learning goals/objectives; Delivering Life Academy sessions using approaches that successfully engage Foyer residents.

Duties will include liaising liaising with the Support Department around resident profile need, risk and engagement; Liaising and developing working relationships with external agencies in matters to do with residents progressions in work, training and volunteering; Advertising and promoting external opportunities in work training and volunteering maximising participation appropriately; Supporting the use of Talent points with each service user to appropriate opportunities ; attending residents meetings and liaising with external agencies.

Experience in a talent or development role working in a similar housing setting is highly desirable.

Customer Service Assistant/Receptionist

Contract: Permanent, full-time (35 hours) Monday to Friday working rotating shifts 07:30- 15:30 or Midday till 20:00 p.m

Salary: £17,513 per annum

The Customer Service Assistant will also be expected to assist in the smooth efficient running of the hostel, deliver an effective quality administration service to residents and staff, whilst promoting a tolerant and caring environment within the hostel.

The post holder will be responsible for maintain the highest standards of customer service at all times by welcoming customers, residents and visitors to the hostel and providing accurate information concerning hostel programmes and activities to interested parties.

Duties will include presenting a caring and professional image as the first point of contact for YMCANL over the phone or at the reception area; Ensuring that adequate stocks of information packs, programmes and relevant leaflets are available at reception for interested parties; Ensuring the safety and security of visitors, residents and staff at all times and taking a responsible attitude towards maintaining the premises and facilities of the YMCA; Handling telephone enquiries, recording messages from incoming calls and transferring calls; Assisting with evacuations by keeping the visitor and resident signing in book up to date and to hand at all times; Collecting and advising residents’ and former residents on the status of their rent account, including any Housing Benefit contributions; Recording of all queries, complaints, lost property and repairs and ensuring the information is delegated to, and resolved by, the relevant department; Booking residents in/out of the database system; Sorting and logging post on a daily basis and ensure it is signed for by the relevant person.

Candidates should possess a high degree of calm and professionalism and be efficient and effective in carrying out their duties.

Experience in a Customer Service or Reception role working in a similar housing setting is highly desirable.

Quality Assurance & Compliance Officer

We are looking to recruit a full time Quality Assurance and Compliance Officer to join our busy supported housing team.

The purpose of the role is to ensure the YMCA North London meets and exceeds the operational requirements of its stakeholders and internal customers though creating, maintaining, improving and innovating our performance monitoring systems. This will involve working alongside the management team to ensure cohesive and effective systems and procedures are employed. Candidates will be expected to have experience of diary management, good Microsoft office skills, excellent communication skills, possess a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Duties will include  ensuring that all qualitative and quantitative data relating to YMCANL Housing Society is pertinent, relevant and useful, and is collated and distributed in a timely manner; Work alongside the Housing Team to collate performance information; Ensuring all administrative tasks are in line with the requirements of the Quality Assessment Framework; Collate, administer and distribute key performance information reports on both residents and staff for the YMCANL Housing Society; Track the financial and statistical records of the voids and arrears, analyse and reporting this data to the Head of Services; Manage monthly and quarterly KPI reporting sheets; Work with the Housing Management team to ensure that all KPIs are completed within the required timescales, and that the quarterly Supporting People returns are completed; Regularly monitor the team’s performance against the Quality Assessment Framework. Work with the Housing Department to maintain and develop tools and practices for the AMIS Housing and Operations Database system and to assist in the production of manuals for staff; Administer the complaints process to ensure that all complaints are handled in line with YMCANL’s policy and procedure, and to provide statistical analysis of complaints.

Experience in a Quality Assurance role working in a similar housing setting is highly desirable.

Supported Housing Officer

We want to recruit a Supported Housing Officer to provide a first class support service for residents of our building at Tottenham Lane, and the various move on properties through contributing to a safe and pleasant environment where young people can prepare for independent living, employment and/or training.

The Supported Housing Officer plays a key role in the Housing department reporting to the Support Manager.

The post holder will be responsible for acting as a Key Worker for a caseload of residents; ensuring the residents pay their rent and manage their benefits; agreeing a personal support plan for each resident; Responding to the needs of residents presenting in crisis as required and undertake risk assessments; Follow up resident’s housing non-compliance issues according to agreed procedures and in liaison with the Housing Team (e.g. rent, room condition, rule breaking).

Duties will include liaising with the Talent team to update, understand, and support residents retention and progression in the Life Academy; preparing and planning activities in the Life Academy and delivering Life Academy sessions as agreed; attending residents meetings and liaising with external agencies.

Experience in a supported housing role working in a similar setting is highly desirable.

The purpose of this internship is to provide an individual with valuable experience in Personal Administration and the Charity sector. The intern will provide support to the Executive Assistant which is a key role in North London YMCA.

The Executive Assistant is responsible for supporting the Chief Executive and the Boards of the Housing Society and the Charity in planning, implementing, directing and maintaining the activities of the organisation by providing a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative support, communicating information on behalf of the Chief Executive, Board to service users, employees and other interested parties. Together with the Chief Executive, the Executive Assistant is an ambassador for the organisation, and will often be the first point of contact for visitors. In addition, this role provides ‘on the ground’ HR administrative support to managers and employees including answering questions where possible and liaising with the HR Manager/Director to provide solutions to outstanding issues.

The intern must be prepared to assist the Executive Assistant with all aspects of their job role. It will be a busy and demanding role but at the same time interesting and rewarding and no two days will be the same.
