The YMCA preschool programme aims to provide a worthwhile facility for both the child and the carer. It promotes the development of movement skills, confidence and social interaction and encourages carer participation with the younger children. The classes are designed to gradually progress through the ages until the children are ready to work independently. Most classes work on a drop-in basis with a few course options.
Happy Hoppers (Ages 0 – 4yrs): This is a class that incorporates inflatable tumble track, soft play, face painting, music and song. This is a teacher led class. Parents/Carers must be responsible for all children in their care whilst playing on the equipment.
Busy Bees , Jolly Jumpers and Rock ‘n’ Rollers (Ages 6months – 4yrs): Class with a strong emphasis on gymnastics. The sports hall is set up with both gymnastics equipment and soft play.Parents/Carers must be responsible for all children in their care whilst playing on the equipment.
Bubble Club (Ages 0-3yrs): A morning designed for parents/carers and baby to meet new friends, explore different toys including soft play, exercise their vocal cords and crawl freely in a safe environment and find their own feet. This is a teacher led class. Parents/Carers must be responsible for all children in their care whilst playing on the equipment.
Baby Massage (Ages 0-6Months): These are classes are run by a trained International Association of Infants Massage Instructor. come along and learn how to massage your baby and enjoy the fun, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. To book a space contact Maxine Murray on: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Carer/Toddler Ballet (Ages 2 – 3yrs): Creative play using basic ballet technique, song and dressing up. Parents are expected to join in on the fun!
Pre-school Ballet (Ages 3 – 4yrs): A class designed to encourage the early development of movement, co-ordination and flexibility. Children are expected to attend alone although carers can watch from the wings during initial sessions.
Carer and Toddler Gymnastics (Ages 1 – 3yrs): A class aimed at the younger child, which provides confidence-building activities and develops balance, co-ordination and social interaction. A large range of equipment is used including soft play pieces, balance beams, climbing frames and hand held apparatus. Carers are expected to get involved with a structured warm up and provide support for their children as they negotiate their way around the equipment. Parents/Carers must be responsible for all children in their care whilst playing on the equipment.
Pre-school Gymnastics (Ages 3 – 4 yrs): Course and drop-in class available. Children are now expected to attend without their carers. Children follow a warm up and then join a small group to concentrate on developing basic gymnastic skills.
Mini Mozart: A sing along mini musical, each class features a piano accompanist, violin, clarinet, percussion, bubbles, parachute, and interactive story based on a different fairy tale each week. Post Natal: For babes in arms (no crawlers please) the post-natal class will be mat based and incorporate some massage and lovely calming repertoire as well as well as our usual songs and games with the parachute, bubbles, violin, clarinet & piano. HartBeeps: A rich and highly interactive play area for little ones of all abilities to learn and have lots of fun. Music, sensory props, puppets, bubbles and singing. Hartbeeps classes are structure in the following: “Happy House” – for little ones that are walking (younger siblings very welcome) “Baby Beeps” – for little ones that are sitting to walking “Baby Bells” – Our class for newborns to sitting.
